The Agile Reference Projects path involves the in-depth application and management by IndigoBlue of our Agile FOUNDATION CAPABILITIES, and deployment of the ADAPT and CONTROL governance framework in clients’ benchmark projects. This approach delivers two key outcomes for clients.
First, it demonstrates what can be achieved using the Agile approach in the client’s business environment - highlighting the wider potential for incremental change and the way in which constraints can be addressed.
Secondly, the business gains direct benefit from the use of Agile techniques in the reference projects: early return on investment; improved business fit; better customer engagement, and higher quality. In accomplishing this, the artefacts and culture vital to successful wider adoption of Agile business change capability are established.
In the Elaboration phase IndigoBlue works closely with clients to determine the most appropriate projects to become Agile reference cases. For the selected projects we configure and populate the key elements of our Agile FOUNDATION CAPABILITIES: an incremental strategy and plan for implementation, an uncertainty management plan, and an Agile governance framework based on ADAPT and CONTROL.
The implementation plan incorporates an Agile "product backlog", with prioritised, incremental features and relative estimates - acting as both the scoping documentation and development plan.
The Implementation phase is managed by IndigoBlue’s highly experienced Agile project managers and delivered in close collaboration with client teams.
In managing reference projects, whilst delivering the business benefits of the Agile approach remains paramount, at each stage we also capture and document the constraints and opportunities that will affect the wider adoption of the Agile capability in the client’s business environment. A key output from the process is a defined plan for addressing these factors and facilitating the broad adoption of the Agile approach.
The implementation creates Agile artefacts and standards that both ensure successful project delivery and provides the template for wider adoption of the Agile change capability. This includes: the Agile process; governance and reporting standards; approaches to test; configuration management and release management; tools; role definitions, and key measures.
Through the projects we transfer knowledge and skills, ensuring the effective dissemination of the Agile FOUNDATION CAPABILITIES to management, stakeholders and all project staff. We work closely with the client’s Agile Champions throughout the projects, building knowledge and skill with mentoring, training, collective issue resolution, and feedback.
