Building on a clear definition of business context and strategy for change, IndigoBlue’s Agile Capability Development delivers a comprehensive change programme for the development of World Class Agile Capability in clients’ businesses. The implementation programme deploys IndigoBlue’s Agile FOUNDATION CAPABILITIES and ADAPT and CONTROL governance framework to establish the artefacts, standards and practices required for clients’ lasting adoption of Agile change capability at scale.
Our approach comprises three main phases:
The Strategy Phase establishes the business context in which the Agile adoption will take place, the scope of the change programme and the plan for implementation. It also defines the structures that will ensure consistency of understanding throughout the organisation.
We examine the applicability of Agile techniques to all relevant business change programmes and projects, the current consistency of their application, and the correlation of their use with business objectives. Building on existing Agile capability wherever it is present, the scope of this assessment encompasses organisational structures, governance and customer engagement processes.
Based on this comprehensive picture, the assessment establishes a clear road map and implementation plan for the embedding of world-class agile change capability. All aspects of the implementation or enhancement of Agile technologies are addressed, including the necessary and desirable changes in management, governance, and team resources, - taking full account of constraints and impact of other on-going change programmes.
On completion of the strategy, IndigoBlue works with clients to pilot and validate key aspects of it on a small number of client-managed projects. The pilot projects allow assumptions to be challenged and the approach refined before moving into the Agile Capability Change Programme.
The change programme is itself performed using Agile collaborative techniques. The programme executes all elements of the Agile adoption strategy to create the specified advanced Agile change capability in the client’s business. The implementation combines hands-on support and knowledge transfer by IndigoBlue with the extensive use of our Agile FOUNDATION CAPABILITIES. These are configured to match the specific needs of the organisation, refined through on-going feedback, and build on clients’ existing Agile capability.
The Implementation falls into two broad areas: Management and Governance; People and Resources.
We transfer and embed the knowledge and skills to create and maintain the Agile artefacts and standards to ensure successful and lasting adoption of the Agile change capability. This includes: the standardisation of the process; governance and reporting standards; organisational approaches to test; configuration management and release management; tools; role definitions, and key measures in both existing and new organisational processes.
The implementation of governance is underpinned and accelerated by IndigoBlue’s ADAPT and CONTROL governance framework.
We ensure the effective dissemination of the Agile FOUNDATION CAPABILITIES to management, stakeholders and all affected staff to ensure the Agile approach is embedded within the culture of the organisation. A vital element of this aspect of the Implementation is the engagement of Agile Champions. We work closely with the client’s Agile Champions throughout the programme, building knowledge and skill with mentoring, training, collective issue resolution, and feedback.
